From this understanding greater knowledge and a life in harmony with nature can be achieved.
As Hawking’s ideas are concerned with the universe, his lab is more extensive, with dramatic changes in lighting. Various views of the sky are gained in this lab; an environment conducive to his kind of thought.

For Goodalls lab I tried to make the spaces more uniting and harmonious, as per her relationship with nature, this was the effect I hoped to achieve by having the rooms ‘hug’ each other. 
Initially I made the ramp to curl quite steeply, I imagined this as Hawking still coming to terms with the universe, how it works and why it exists; as stated in the quote. As the ramp and Hawking get closer the meeting place the ramp straightens signifying the solidity of his knowledge and idea.
